Hello! I'm a long time fan of Space: 1999. I caught it initially in its first run (September, 1975) and was hooked immediately. I went to the first 2 conventions ('78, '79), did some writing for fan newsletters in the 80's, became a serious Space collector in the early 90's, and in the mid-90's got involved with convention organizing. When the Breakaway Convention was in its initial planning stages, I had hoped to open the festivities with some kind of slam-bang video similar to ones I had seen at conventions for other shows. Unfortunately, the editor with whom I had originally planned to work became busy with work and had to bow out. So I postponed my project, found another editor after Breakaway, and went to work to premiere it for the Main Mission New York con in 2000. I have always said that this is the rough cut. I had asked the editor to send me a copy of the video so that I could make alternations and additions, if necessary. We were working without streaming video and high speed internet access. I was overseeing the video without actually seeing it in progress. As the date for the con rapidly approached we realized there wasn't enough time to go back and redo anything. So the master tape I received was in effect the final copy. It is absolutely wonderful as it is but I have always wanted to go back and touch it up here and there. I suppose artists are never completely satisfied. I think I will some day. But my interest in 1999 ebbs and flows and mutates. I have moved on to other projects myself. Space: Eternal was meant to be for the fan to show the non-fan the best and essence of Space: 1999 in less than 10 minutes, without having to subject them to an entire episode (unless they really like you!). It was a way to spread the word, raise awareness, and ultimately revive interest. I hope you enjoy it. Show it to your office staff! Show it at your next party! Show it to everyone you can.
